Dalton Marine Returns Home

Dalton’s hometown hero is back home today just in time for the holidays.

Marine Sergeant Joey Jones lost both legs earlier this year, when a bomb exploded in Afghanistan. He has been recovering at the Walter Reed for months.

But today the 24-year-old was met with scores of family and friends who say his recovery is nothing short of a miracle.

“This is probably the best thing in my therapy so far and that’s to come home and see everyone,” Jones.

Today the community held a homecoming event at the American Legion office.

The American Legion of Chatsworth gave him a check for nearly $5,000. Brooker Ford gave a truck to the Jones family.

His fiancee Meg Garrison says all the outpouring of support is something she’ll never forget.

“It was really overwhelming, I started crying, and he said, Why are you crying?” says Garrison.

Jones looks forward to spending time with his fiancee and son, Braiden.

He will be in Dalton for the next couple of weeks before returning to Walter Reed for rehab. At that time, doctors will fit him for prosthetic legs.
