Elvis Dumervil Cited For Assault After Leaving Game In October

Broncos linebacker Elvis Dumervil was cited for disturbing the peace and assault in connection with an incident that took place after he left a game at Invesco field in October, KDVR reports.

Dumervil, a former pro-bowler who is sitting this season out after he tore a pectoral muscle before the season, has a court date on January 11.

The Denver Post reports that the incident occurred during an October 24 blowout loss to the Oakland Raiders, when Dumervil left the stadium without his security credentials. When a security guard attempted to stop him from re-entering, the two exchanged words, leading to the charges.

Dumervil has also been cited for several traffic violations in the Denver area. He becomes the fourth Bronco this year to run into trouble with the law. In November, Linebacker D.J. Williams was pulled over and charged with a DUI. Earlier this month, news broke that cornerback Perrish Cox had been charged with felony sexual assault. Shortly after that, reserve linebacker Kevin Alexander was arrested and charged with assault.

Dumervil’s lawyer, Harvey Steinberg, told the Denver Post he was confident his client would not be convicted.
