A family in Meigs County, Tennessee is facing a tough Christmas after fire destroyed their home Thursday night.

The fire broke out at 17852 Highway 58 near Decatur just after dark.

Meigs County Sheriff’s dispatchers tell us everyone got out of the home safely. One man had minor burns to his face and is recovering at a hospital in Athens right now in stable condition.

The family living at the home included a 15 month old baby. A relative tells NewsChannel9 the baby has nothing but the shirt on his back right now. The relative also tells us new windows and a roof had just been installed.

There’s no word yet on what caused the fire.

UPDATE: The Red Cross has put the family up in a hotel for the next three nights provided them with the food shelter they need. The family lost everything doesn’t have insurance. You can make donations to the Hiwassee branch of the American Red Cross, at 423-472-1595.
