Mardi Gras Carnival
A very famous carnival will be held today on 8 March, that is Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras is a carnival that is to welcome the pre-Easter. Usually begins on Sunday to Wednesday ashes. This carnival can be found in countries in Europe, America and South America. Mardi Gras comes from French, Mardi means “Tuesday”, while Gras means “Fat.” In this carnival people usually wear costumes and masks, partying, dancing, parades, sports, all you can eat, etc. before they enter the season of fasting which began Wednesday ash until Easter.
Talk about Mardi Gras, is incomplete if it does not talk about food. One characteristic of Mardi Gras is about the food served, among others: King Cake, Seafood Gumbo, Dirty Rice, etc.. King Cake is a dish that should not be forgotten during Mardi Gras. This bread is made with a ring shape and has 3 colors (Gold, Green, Purple), the colors are symbolize the power, faith, and justice. This food is made from sweet yeast bread, usually in it given the contents of dry red beans or miniature baby that symbolizes Jesus’ childhood.
